I am running the openmotif-2.1.30-2_ICS ppc rpms with no problems however I find that the srpm for openmotif-2.1.30-2_ICS appears to have some severe build problems on linuxppc. Also the specfile in this srpm is missing the definition of buildroot entirely. I suspect that the current specfile is installing all of the built files incorrectly outside of the buildroot. Could ICS please update the srpm to the one used to build the ppc version and also correct the specfile. |

What exactly is Open Motif? Is it a window manager, a desktop environment a GUI like X? I didn`t see anything about this in the MotifZone FAQ. |

While it is wonderful that the Open Group has released Open Motif as quasi-Open Source I think this just begs a more important question. When will CDE be released as Open Source. If CDE were to become available under the same license, then almost immediately Motif/CDE could gain the same status as KDE/gnome. Since a perfectly good desktop environment exists in CDE and this whole exercise is to accelerate Motif use, CDE should be released as well. That will allow the Open Motif development efforts to be concentrated on application development. |

I have an application which utilizes the LessTif libraries and I want to try the OpenMotif libraries instead. LessTif is a Motif clone and is supposedly compatible with Motif 1.2 and Motif 2.0 (I need 1.2). Is there support for Motif 1.2 in OpenMotif? If not, are there alternatives or should I press the developer of the application to upgrade his application to use OpenMotif 2.1? |

It seems the PostScript documentation has bounding box issues; Ghostscript only shows the upper left corner of the page, and the Acrobat Distiller distills it in the upper left corner of a letter-size page. Unfortunately, the first release of the OpenMotif source code seems to come bereft of the documentation source (if I recall, the Motif 2.0 source distribution included doc source and tools to compile it). Such source would be useful, not only to fix the docs, but also to distribute them in different file formats and paper sizes. |
